Hello Friends and Neighbors,
The Board of Directors of the Mantua Swim & Tennis Club would like to mobilize our members and the entire community to partner with Annandale-based ACCA this holiday season on a food and personal hygiene drive for our less-fortunate neighbors. Because of the COVID pandemic, demand at food pantries throughout the country has increased dramatically as families struggle to afford basic necessities. Fairfax is no exception. The ACCA food pantry has seen a 4-fold increase in demand since April, 2020, and there are still pronounced unmet needs.
In response, we plan to collect food and other personal items listed below at the Mantua Swim & Tennis Clubhouse between December 12-18, and then load them into a truck for delivery to the ACCA pantry on December 19. Donating is simple to do. Just donate your items (in boxes or bags please) into bins at the Mantua clubhouse between Saturday, December 12 and Friday, December 18, any time of the day or night, and we will store it all inside and move the items to the ACCA pantry the morning of December 19. Given that this is entirely a volunteer-led effort, we welcome donations and help throughout the process.
ACCA a local non-profit organization is in its 52nd year serving the Annandale community with a food pantry, housing repair, emergency assistance, and a day care center. While originally founded by 27 local Christian churches, today they serve hundreds of families in the community, without regard to race, religion, and gender. You can learn more about ACCA including needed items, other ways to donate and volunteer year-round at their website: https://accacares.org/
Thank you for joining me to make this holiday season in counting our blessings, doing something (safely) together, and helping our neighbors in need.
